Hang up and drive!

A new study has shown some interesting results regarding multitasking, in this case, directly related to driving. The quick and dirty summary is that biologically, humans cannot process multiple inputs at once and the more ingrained skill will take priority. Since speech comprehension is learned at a much younger age than driving, any conversation will degrade driving performance. Now, there is the stereotype of men humoring women, agreeing, but not really listening to them. There is also the stereotype of women not being as skilled drivers. Perhaps it’s due to the fact that women are actually comprehending conversations while driving, where men are just nodding, smiling, and ignoring what’s being said?
